Since I typically enjoy painting with curves, the color palette was changing very frequently during this stage of the project. As a result of that, the colors seen here clash with each other quite heavily. I really enjoy this experimental approach to coloring, as it allows me to constantly change my colors until I find the perfect palette to fit the ideal atmosphere I'd created in my head. |
Role & Experience
This piece was created as part of an independent school project. The prompt for this project was open-ended, and so I decided to create a mockup for a 2D side scrolling game.
My goal was to demonstrate my ability to create a synchronous game environment, in addition to my overall skill as a pixel artist. Therefore, I spent longer than I typically would in the design stage, and took my time narrowing down my options for the kind of design I wanted to create. I also used color quite freely during this piece, using curves manipulation to create many different iterations. In the end, I was satisfied, as I believe that I was able to successfully design a synchronized and lively game world.
